Our client came to us not just as a jewelry lover, but as a devoted horse owner. A true Western gal and longtime equestrian, she had spent years riding and competing with her beloved horse, Kit Kat. Where Custom Begins: Understanding the Vision
Like every custom project, it all started with a conversation.
“She wasn’t quite sure how to bring her idea to life,” Myranda recalls. “She knew she wanted a pendant, but wasn’t sure about the shape. Should it be Kit Kat’s whole body? Just his head? Should it be realistic or more abstract?”
To begin, we asked her to send us photos. She shared around ten images of Kit Kat, some portraits, some action shots, others of quiet moments between them. Myranda and her team studied every detail: his mane, his unique markings, the tilt of his ears, the expression in his eyes.
That’s when the design started taking shape.
The Custom Jewelry Design Process
The custom design journey at Myranda Fine Jewelry follows a carefully crafted path:
- Sketch & Concepting: We translated our client’s ideas and Kit Kat’s essence into an initial sketch. This helped visualize the concept before moving to the next phase.
- Design Rendering: From the sketch, we worked with our design specialist to create a digital rendering of the pendant. This allowed our client to see the pendant from different angles, make revisions, and ensure every detail aligned with her vision.
- Material Selection: Inspired by Kit Kat’s distinctive coloring, we decided to use a combination of white, yellow, and rose gold with each metal representing a different part of his coat. This multi-tone approach gave the piece texture, warmth, and dimension.
- Casting & Assembly: Due to the intricate design and use of three metals, the pendant was cast in separate pieces and then hand-assembled with precision.
- Stone Setting: The pendant took a coin-like shape, with a bezel-set halo of diamonds encircling Kit Kat’s image. The diamonds were not only elegant but securely set to match the rugged yet refined Western theme.
- Chain Selection: A diamond-cut rope chain was chosen to complete the piece, adding sparkle and nodding to the Western aesthetic with its texture and durability.
- Final Touches: For a meaningful detail, we engraved “Kit Kat” onto the section of the pendant that resembles a horse’s bridle which is subtle, symbolic, and completely personal.
Throughout the process, our client was hands-on. She reviewed the design images, gave feedback, and approved each step. That’s what makes custom work so meaningful. You’re not just buying jewelry, you’re part of creating it
